The power to manage your Providence Bank debit card is in your hands through the Providence Bank Mobile app.
Debit Card Controls
- Lock and unlock your debit card(s). If your card is misplaced or you see an unfamiliar charge in your transaction history, locking will prevent all non-recurring transactions from processing until you determine if the card is lost or stolen. If the card is lost or stolen, report it immediately.
- Establish transaction limits. If you would like your daily debit card transaction limit to be lower than the bank-set limit, you can decrease it.
- Set travel notifications. With travel notifications in place, the bank will accept charges from areas outside of your typical footprint.
- Customize transaction alerts. Alerts are available by spend limits, location, transaction type, and merchant category.
Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a fee to use debit card controls?
No. Debit card controls are included in our mobile app, which is available free of charge through the app provider for your device.
I am already enrolled and use Mobile Banking. Do I need need to contact the bank to turn on these features?
No. Debit card controls are available through the Providence Bank Mobile Banking app; no separate enrollment is needed. If you would like to enroll in Online/Mobile Banking access, click here.
I have multiple Providence Bank Debit cards. Can I use these controls for each card?
Yes. Enrollment is automatic for each Providence Bank debit card, and there is no charge for this service.
What is a real-time alert?
A real-time alert is a push notification sent to the Providence Bank Mobile Banking app on your device. Alerts are available for either all payment transactions or transactions meeting select criteria. Alerts are available by spend limits, location, transaction type, and merchant category.
By locking my card, am I closing my account?
No. Using debit card controls does not change the status of your account; just the ability to use your debit card.
Once your card is locked within the Mobile Banking app, the button in the top right corner of the card image will be red. All transactions (except recurring) will be declined when the card is locked. When you are ready to make a purchase, you can unlock the card instantly using the Mobile Banking app.
If my card is locked, will recurring transactions go through?
Yes. Recurring transactions are approved when cards are locked unless recurring transactions are also locked.
Can I use My Location, My Regions, and International at the same time?
Yes. My Location, My Regions, and the International card controls can be used simultaneously.
What are Alerts?
Alerts let you know when card transactions are attempted. You can choose to be alerted for all transactions or for individually selected transaction types. Alerts are available based on location, transaction type, merchant type, and threshold amount.
How long does it take for a control or alert setting to take effect?
Controls and alerts are effective immediately once preferences are saved in the Mobile Banking app.
